On data independence
CLONMEL -- While specifying a multimedia database, we reviewed the importance of maintaining data independence. We need to separate data descriptions from the application programs that use the data.
So we will store metadata in the DBMS (Database Management System) to ensure applications don’t need to worry about data formats. Data independence increases application development and maintenance productivity. It leads to better storage and management of files. In relation to a multimedai database, data independence is a key element to the proper management and maintenance of data.Data independence offers structure and better storage to its users.
