Wireless Internet for College

NOMADTEMPLE BAR -- Around a year ago, I spotted some guys in the Waterford Institute of Technology doing some Wi-Fi work next to the school cafeteria. I fired up my TransNote, couldn't detect the node and thought it was just a circle of interested hackers. It was more. It affects what I am doing in Temple Bar with Dun Laoghaire College of Art Design and Technology.

The circle was formed by TSSG and now they have set up trials in Dun Laoghaire. They have WiFied the entire College of Art & Design, installed some custom-built groupware services, armed a team of students with PDAs and let them loose to see how they got on. We need that same open-minded connectivity in Clonmel.

The concept of a Wi-Fi community is core to NOMAD, alongside pervasive technologies and a willingness to avail services to users instead of corral users into services.
