WIRED -- One of the best evolutions in magazine publishing is inside the covers of Wired magazine. That evolution would be the demise of hype and the rise of acerbic writing. More than any other tech magazine, Wired delivers an even-handed appraisal of the lay of the land, without resorting to the use of surveyors' tools. Other magazines give you benchmarking scores. Wired writers² simply tell you the story without the geek hype. Granted, some of the fetish objects¹ would only surface in a geek house. That's just fine for me and millions of other Wired readers who cannot get enough of smart technology.
The only place I can buy Wired in Kilkenny is at Power News.
¹Then you also have the world-famous advertisements that prompt wish-list urges across the Wired readership.
²It's an eclectic mix, with contributors including Xeni Jardin, Spencer Reiss, and Lawrence Lessig
