Why MS is flat

WSJ -- The publisher of Forbes explains why Microsoft's stock has been flat since 1999. The company is rife with gray hairs. And as we know in our software development degree programme, software is a young person's game.

"Most of today's change-the-world projects in computing live outside of Microsoft. These include Open Source Software, search engines, web services, Flash video, WiFi, and iPods. Microsoft is losing its grip on a new generation of IQ."

Rich Karlgard -- "The New Deal: Microsoft Then and Now" in The Wall Street Journal Opinion July 28, 2004.
