Thinking of Meaty Coffee
WE HAD A productive Limerick OpenCoffee today but one of the reasons I draw that conclusion is that we heard several well-founded criticisms of the Irish OpenCoffee architecture. I am sketching a wire diagram to show what I mean as we add meat to Irish OpenCoffee.
Wire Coffee to the cloud. We know we need to activate and point OpenCoffee.ie to a domain containing subscribable content from each of the OpenCoffee docks in Ireland. Perhaps we should start by asking Michele Neylon to point the domain he donated to the Cork OpenCoffee site.
Subscribable Geonodes Needed. People want to subscribe to a flow of local info or subscribe to all. On top of that, some people just want to subscribe to the upcoming events in each location.
Photos of Named People and Images of Demos. It is difficult to remember names of people or to recall who does what. We are actually talking about wiring a rudimentary social network comprised of Irish start-ups.
Table Topic. Borrowing from Barcamp, some people want a timely topic offered for discussion at meetings. Today we ranged from Innovation Vouchers to three-minute explanations from each of the 10 attendees about their current projects. These short segments were interesting because only four of the 10 attending were regulars. We think a wiki maintained by Gabriela Avram would help this strand evolve.
Weave More People into the Network. Several incubation companies do not know about OpenCoffee. With more structure around the schedules, reports on the events, and a set piece for part of the two-hour session, there shoud be an uptick in attendance.
There are many more thoughts on the Irish OpenCoffee channel worth reading and commenting on. I wonder if someone at tomorrow's OpenCoffee in Cork might toss out these ideas for reflection.
