Back Chatter During Podcamp Ireland

SINCE NOBODY IN THE AUDIENCE at Podcamp Ireland was watching the back chatter at Online Meeting Rooms, I've pulled the commentary from the chat box that I saw unfold during the conversation held by Minister John McGuinness, Brendan Hughes and Gabriela Avram. The chatter occurred during a 28-minute conversation held in the City Room of the Hotel Kilkenny.

Joe >> (All): turn up mic in meeting room bernie
markmedia >> (All): no sound here. Is it me+
jmcguinness >> (All): sound checking room
Joe >> (All): do a count
jmcguinness >> (All): brendan is counting. how's that
Joe >> (All): no sound coming
jmcguinness >> (All): maybe I should bring mic through camera.
Joe >> (All): ok perfect
jmcguinness >> (All): brendan counting
Joe >> (All): we can hear him
markmedia >> (All): any  of the government opps on twitter/jaiku7whatever+
jmcguinness >> (All): no. and that's what Brendan and Gabriela hope to point out to the minister.
markmedia >> (All): cool. Old mindset on new markets. doesnt work so well for start-ups
jmcguinness >> (All): You're right and we're hoping to have an open door to the Dept of Enterprise to make the point that we need new techniques for these new challenges.
markmedia >> (All): mostly you need to help them to get the change from megaphone to conversation even in the industrial space
Joe >> (All): wake up the camera ;)
jmcguinness >> (All): "moving from the megaphone to the microphone to enhance effective conversaitons.
markmedia >> (All): but it means that the gov and its (un)civil servants also have to understant that 'they* need to be conversational. Goes against the grain on civil service traditions
jmcguinness >> (All): You should push these comments into the twitterverse too.
Joe >> (All): Gabriella is sooo right
jmcguinness >> (All): Keith Bohanna is giving John McGuinness The Cluetrain Manifesto.
Joe >> (All): i madde the point to ei that they could click through to the markets for so long
markmedia >> (All): tragic that the Cluetrain is over a decade old. Look at the wat´y Google responded to the problems on their TOC when they launched Chrome. Within twelve hours there had been a compleat reversal of policy and a huge ammount of goodwill from users. That is the way *all* modern companies have to opperate in the social economy.
Joe >> (All): still the fact they thought they could get away with the t&c
markmedia >> (All): nope. The *listening* and *responding* is the lesson. You cant fuck with your client base anymore because the network will punish you if you do. It is a lesson every comoany (and political organisation) has to learn.
Joe >> (All): ken you can stretch windows -- bottom right
jmcguinness >> (All): There's good give and take here.
markmedia >> (All): he talks about conversation: can u ask him how *he* converses? Is he on social networks? Whats his twitter @ ?
Joe >> (All): he has to sit way down back
Joe >> (All): juicecaster girl
markmedia >> (All): <clap clap>
Joe >> (All): unconference :)
jmcguinness >> (All): Martha Rotter is up now.
