DAVID CONDE, a software developer from Tipperary Institute is part of a two-man team that won EUR 25,000 in the regional finals of Intertrade Ireland. David works with Adrian Skihill at Calom Technologies in the National College of Ireland's Business Incubation Centre, located to the right of the shot at left. Together they have won top honours in the Dublin Emerging Company Category of this year’s Intertrade Ireland Seedcorn Competition. Adrian Skehill, CEO of Calom Technologies and lecturer in Software Engineering and Distributed Systems at National College of Ireland, said: "Winning the Dublin Regional Final of the Seedcorn Competition has given us a great boost, not just the cash prize but also the feedback and input from some of Ireland's leading business people has been invaluable."

David Conde showed me the aggregation tool he helped build. When it runs inside my Playstation, I have an exceptionally powerful video playback controller. The software integrates internet media content, live TV streams and social networks. It works through set-top browsers optimised for televisions (http://
ipic.tv). The set-top software is customised for telecommunications companies and Internet Service Providers who wish to deliver a richer entertainment experience to their customers. It is a perfect adjunct to a content service envisaged by Mark Little. I've recorded commentary about Calom Technologies for review and analysis in Tipperary Institute's third level project management module. The judging panel for Dublin's group of competitors included Tom Shinkwin of Enterprise Equity Venture Group, Leo Hamill of NCB Ventures and Dr. Steven Collins of Trinity College Dublin. The Seedcorn Competition is run by cross-border business development organisation Intertrade Ireland. The aim is to stimulate new start-up activity, accelerate commercial development and create more opportunities for private equity investment. With €25,000 in the bank, Adrian and David will now attend an investment pitch master class to prepare them for the Seedcorn All-island Final on 26 November 2009, when the two overall winners of €100,000 will be selected.
