I have listened to Jean Baudrillard talk about the postmodern before and this book continues many elements of his discussions. He uses the concepts of the simulacrum--the copy without an original--and simulation, crucial to an understanding of the postmodern, to address issues of remediation. In doing so, he cuts to the quick of new media by focusing on concepts of mass reproduction that underpin many elements of modern day mass communications. This is a good read for anyone exploring the intersection of postmodern and multimedia.
