On the evening of 15 October 2008, I carried one of Tom Murphy's tripods from his rental van to his Irish hotel room last night and then showed him the best pints of Guinness in Cashel. He had two. A few hours later, we drove into County Clare, then County Limerick, in search of where Irish jobs are relocating. I think the last time Tom walked into the Clare FM studios, he had his camera trained on Frank McCourt. Tom filmed McCourt in 2005, as McCourt commented on the rapid growth of the Celtic Tiger. For much of the past 25 years, Murphy has filmed current affairs for major broadcasters. He has spent a substantial amount of that time in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He journeyed to Ireland for the four days I accompanied him after flying Aer Lingus from his home city of London.
Before he leaves, I would like to give him some tutorials on pimping his blog.
