These earbuds are much more sophisticated than any other on the market. Remove one of the MH907's from your ear and your handset's music will pause. Put it back in and your tune will continue. This will save me endless rewinding of podcasts when approaching cash tills.
The trick is in the capacitive switch in the tip of each earbud. It's the same technology used in sensitive touchscreens and it relies on the excellent electrical conductivity of human skin. So when you pop an MH907 earbud out of your ear canal, the electrical capacitance decreases and that signals the music player i the phone to pause. If you want to share an earbud during a song, you can overrule the auto-pause function by using controls on the phone itself.
The MH907's are compatible with 35 SonyEricsson phones, including all the company's Walkman-branded models. The MH907 needs SonyEricsson's 12-pin connector to work and that's part of the phone that no other manufacturer uses.
That means the EUR 45 earbuds are less likely to be ripped off by someone who wants a 3.5mm plug-in earbud.
