We are starting the second year of the highly-acclaimed MAVIS programme in Temple Bar and one of the first comments from both returning students and newly initiated course members concerns a way to continue the conversation beyond the classroom. For those who live and work in Dublin, the solution is a pub crawl away. You can easily fill in the gaps over coffee or pints. But many on the course live beyond the Pale, which means seriously exploring how to make web technologies extend the conversation.
We will start with a mixed media template, using a calendar metaphor from the ground up. The calendar is one of the most intuitive ways for people to navigate content. Unfortunately, when we implement this metaphor, we won't be able to easily go forward to red letter dates. That said, this weblog is powered by Typepad and that means everything is possible.
