UNDERWAY -- Only five more days of Irish Rail service remain during which passengers can smoke on trains. The on-board announcements remind passengers of their impending clean air prospects. Aluminium ashtrays are in short supply. However, the regulars still light up between carriages, even asking conductors for matches in these no-smoking zones. I don't think conductors equate smoking to anti-social behaviour as many of them are smokers themselves. Next week's train journeys will prove interesting.
