CLONMEL -- Happy New Year! It's 4702 and the Year of the Rooster. Today the event falls on Ash Wednesday so that means choosing between plaice and spring rolls in the cafeteria lunch line.
Gung hai fat choi, lai see dow loi. Go enjoy the Chinatown Festival in Dublin!
This year's Dublin Chinatown Festival should attract more than the 126,000 people who attended in 2004. It's a five-day event in the National Museum of Ireland's Collins Barracks. More than 50 market stalls, a food village, street entertainment, dance, music and a Chinese film festival feature in the event.
The National Museum of Ireland's own collection of several hundred Chinese and Asian artefacts--including a 13th century Fonthill vase--will be on display.
If you are stuck for a gift to celebrate Chinese new Year, you could opt for feng shui knickers. The Life Enhance Company in Hong Kong says the lucky knickers ward off evil spirits and bring life harmony.
