INTELLIGENTLY SEARCHING IMAGES occupies a lot of our time when supervising multimedia degree portfolios at Tipperary Institute. So it's good to see how A9 Image Search has added some semantic awareness to search queries. The default image results for this blog when using A9 now display items most likely to be faces or people, not merely the most commonly viewed images from the weblog archives. That's clever, even though it means that the first page of results no longer includes a picture of me. It looks as though the first page of results contain terms most popular among searchers. However, I'm a little confused whether the overall result is the most accurate one. Look at what you get when searching for images of Irishblogs. The images are radically different than the most popular photos from Irishblogs stored on Flickr.
