ONE SIMPLE pleasure in my life is being able to depend upon a flow of news always ready to be read on my mobile phone. I use both a Nokia 9500 and a Sony Ericsson P910i to run Free News and that news aggregator scrapes 112 sites for my viewing whenever there's a television advertisement or a delay in road traffic. Since I watch less than six hours of television each week and only experience road delays on Fridays when headed to Dublin, there is always plenty of FreeNews on my phone. The bloated aggregation appends to the reading of the Sunday papers.
One of my news items was an update from Free News which appeared in bold because I had failed to upgrade to version 1.0.5 so I pointed the phones at http://mwap.at and after clicking the only link there, I had my upgrade following a 67k download. All software upgrades should be as painless.
Unfortunately, when I try to tell the story to the world, I discover that Typepad's mail-to-blog service is malfunctioning. This problem is happening to me a lot lately and I think it's because I have more than 3000 blog posts on my Typepad domain. I'm starting to figure out ways to migrate onto another host, relegating my IrishEyes to one-a-day musing on weekdays. I expect to embargo those so my entries appear at the start of each work day in most aggregators.
Now it's back to laying carpet in the third room. Two more to go.
