ADRIAN WECKLER¹ offers essential advice to travelers using mobile phones on a weekend when some Irish bloggers rail against roaming charges. Weckler advises the use of telephone calling cards when traveling overseas. For those visiting Ireland, that means buying an international calling card from a newsagent and then using the phone numbers on it to ring international numbers. That practise lets me reach the States for as little as four cents a minute. This advice won't appear in most travelguides. It works in Italy, Germany and England where I tested it. Its sheer ease of use makes those who pay roaming charges on outgoing charges look like they haven't done their homework.
