ON THE FLOOR with three audio recorders at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition we have discovered it's often faster to use a WiFi node to send sound clips from one end of the venue to the other. We pass those files as email attachments to Box.net by addressing [email protected] with the .MSV files (the native file format coming from Sony digital dictaphones) we need to share. They hit the Box and arrive in a folder called “Uploads from email.”
It means our sound crew has to configure their mobile phones with the group email address, which is the registered account email address we have at Box.net. However, the Box programmers are creating a whitelist comprised of mobile phone numbers and other email addresses that will pass files into the Box.
We like Box.net.
