Hitler Officially Dead

FROM THE ATTIC of my grandmother's house and now tossed out in the skip was Time Magazine from May 7, 1945. It officially announced the death of Adolf Hitler--broadcast around the world on the second of May 1945--and that news meant my dad would not be drafted into the Army infantry. Two other neighbours returned home several months later, both permanently disabled from beach landings in Normandy.
