Most people use the earbuds as a hands-free attachment for their phones because they connect to most all Bluetooth phones. Like all Walkmans, the HBH-DS980 shows the tracks that are playing, along with a slider switch that moves the tracks forward or backward. We're most impressed by the power of the antenna on the earbuds because when we put the phone on a middle floor, we can hear the tracks both upstairs and downstairs. And when the phone is in the kitchen, we can listen to tracks over earbuds when working in the garage. The only issue we've encountered during the first two hours of use is the impending feeling of loss--if we put these earbuds down anywhere and curious hands walk away with them, we're out of €100 and the thief gets cool technology that works without any manual. You still need an adapter to recharge the earbuds but a replacement costs less than €30.
