DAVE DELANEY, KNOWN FOR HIS LOVE of Galway as well as his online networking, earned a red card that bars him from Twitter. Or so it seems. I was flicking through some of my daily reads and quickly discovered that @davedelaney wasn't part of the Twitterverse anymore. In fact, I've noticed that I'm losing an average of three followers per day, putting me well on to my goal of having no more followers on Twitter by the end of 2008. That's not as important as trying to figure out what happened to Dave Delaney, a guy I've followed for more than 8000 updates to Twitter. It looks like Twitter just deleted Dave's account based on some form of anti-spam algorithm. No warning--just a polite screen telling him that he had been deleted because he violated Twitter's terms and conditions. Here's hoping Twitter returns Dave Delaney to the fold. And maybe, just maybe, Twitter might figure our some kind of authentication routine that allows people to identify themselves as real friends. It works in Facebook.
