I SLID OUT ON icy Irish roads to buy a few Irish Sunday broadsheets, aggravated my sprained knee, and made a nine-minute video with my Nokia E90 while flipping through the Sunday Times and Sunday Business Post. The Times leads with a story about the Irish Minister for Finance staying on despite his pancreatic cancer. [1] The Sunday Business Post leads with a story discussing cutbacks at Ireland's largest hospital [2] and includes other front page coverage of further State cutbacks. [3] I open my short video with Barry Underwood's large scale light installation in Sausalito, California. It's made with a long exposure lens and combines contemporary painting with light installations. In an upbeat style, Agenda Magazine in the Sunday Business Post points to several specific things that the Celtic Tiger delivered to Ireland, including motorways, outdoor recreation, multicultural contacts and a world-class stadium.

2. Susan Mitchell -- "Funds cuts lead Mater to close beds" on the front page of the Sunday Business Post, 3 Jan 10.
3. Niamh Connolly -- "Further State agencies to face dissolution or mergers" below the front page fold of the Sunday Business Post, 3 Jan 10.
