A TREND CONTINUES in the Irish Sunday papers today: more column inches are written about the meltdown of the Irish banking system than about property or automobiles for sale. And yet in today's 13-minute walk through the Sunday papers, I spot White Van Man making a reappearance--in England. Ireland is not truly on the road to recovery until more Breakfast Rolls than sandwiches are sold in Irish corner shops before 9AM. The papers have compelling information about Goldman Sachs being charged with CDO fraud, a kind of investment that Anglo Irish would have made before collapsing. NAMA's hidden depths of debt continue trickling out into the mainstream press and several Irish journalists follow the trail with stories revealing the unsustainable property market languishing in Ireland. My Qik clip covers some interesting takes on technology (primarily from Adrian Weckler) and I cite two trends worth considering since both affect an informed citizenry.

Jody Corcoran -- "Let's put a few business people into the Cabinet" in the Sunday Independent, 18 April 2010. The Irish cabinet is awash with egotist teachers who crave respect outside the classroom. In fact, Ireland is run by teachers and country solicitors who comprise the Cabinet.
Alan Ruddock -- "Ten reasons why your outrage is justified" in the Comment section of the Sunday Independent, 18 April 2010. His reasons lead with "The State will have to spend almost €50bn buying dodgy loans from Ireland's banks, deliberately paying more than they are worth.

Willie O'Dea -- "Municipal bonds would allow councils to get cash" in the "Irish Life" section of the Sunday Independent, 18 April 2010. Municipal bonds would help raise local projects to a viable level. The local authority would pay bondholders a specified rate of interest annually and return the principals on a specific maturity date, usually in in 25 to 30 years.
