SEVERAL NEWSWORTHY ITEMS spotlight Irish innovation in the Sunday papers today, along with insights about the causes of the recession in Ireland, the meltdown that has followed and some initiatives that use the European Globalisation Fund. Tony Chambers points to the London Design Festival and I think the creative high point is John Pawson's Minimalist Heaven in the Design Museum. Inside the Sunday Times, the inGear supplement has a 10-page Stigathon that revolves around Ben Collins' The Man in the White Suit. Today's Qik video started with a key frame from Lee Strickland's Fish and Chicks, an exhibition featuring glam girls and Brit chippies. The exhibition is in London's Idea Generation Gallery.
In a noteworthy initiative of social media, Catherine O'Mahony writes, "Women unite for more media." It's a story of crowd-sourcing the names of women so a more balanced voice might be heard on Irish mainstream broadcast channels.
