MY NOKIA N8 EXPERIENCE from Bastien ROGER on Vimeo.
THERE ARE SO MANY reasons to love the Nokia N8 and one of them is video quality. People have been creating some amazing short films using the Nokia N8 handset. I followed the winning entries in the Nokia Producers competition a couple of weeks ago and wondered if they would go to Edinburgh's, Darklight's or Galway's film festivals. It looks like they might, based on the ambitious competition in association between Nokia and Vimeo.
There is a new competition called Nokia Shorts. It starts with a pitch for a short film, something that hasn’t been done before. The pitch is in two parts. First, a two-minute clip. Second, a short 100 word text brief that explains what you're trying to do. You can upload both through the Nokia Vimeo channel.
If the judges like your idea, then you can be one of eight film-makers to get a $5000 production budget and two Nokia N8s to get your film made. The judges are professional film makers like Jalmari Helander, Director of Rare Exports, and Bob Greenberg who’s CEO of R/GA and an Oscar winner.
If your finished film wins, then it’s a $10,000 cash prize and a premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival along with the other seven finalists.
I'm interested even though my N8 efforts aren't going to blow anybody away.
