SO MANY PIECES of my personal gear are like the iPod Touch that I have attached to my blog post. The Touch (shown in this blog post with my wife reflecting on its screen), my Nokia E7, and my Mifi dongle with O2 data SIM give me immediate access to narrowcast channels. I can type, tap and snap my content directly to an audienrce faster than I have ever enjoyed before. I think it is more than remarkable--it has changed the metaphor from sending a postcard to using my phone as the channel for sharing social objects. My three-year-old daughter recognises the icon for Audioboo and she knows how to activate its recording node. She has heard her voice as an Audioboo clip and knows it is herself. Ten years from now, I think she will tap and talk to home base using her phone but not using any money to share her audio diary. I'm looking forward to that day. But it won't be as remarkable as seeing my first grandchild through Facetime on the iPod Touch two hours after her birth today.
