OUR FOUR YEAR OLD prefers her mom's Motorola Xoom 2 Media tablet to the iPad when hanging around in Ireland. There are several reasons for her discerning judgment.
The Xoom weighs a lot less than the iPad so it's easier for a child to hold. That's probably due in large part to the Otterbox that surrounds the iPad.
The Xoom Media tablet does not get as hot as the iPad.
The Xoom 2 can stream every Disney movie ever made from one of our older laptops using Motocast.
It's faster to load up video clips on the Xoom using File Manager HD than it is with the iPad using iTunes. We can cable the Xoom, drag and drop content, and Bob's your uncle. Try that with iTunes and you'll discover a lot of your content simply does not display because it won't play on the iPad.
Nearly everything that moves on screen plays on the Xoom, thanks to Act 1's video player.
We haven't taken the Xoom 2 out on a road trip yet but the battery life at home seems as strong as the iPad's and that means getting as long a duty life out of the tablet as a full tank of petrol. I'll blog about our four-year-old's adventures with the Xoom as she continues tapping away on it this summer.
