SUNDAY BROADSHEETS IN IRELAND often set the radio talk show agendas for Mondays and Tuesdays so I like to page through for headlines worth reading. This weekend, I found several items of interest in the Sunday Independent that I think will resonate for more than a week.
On a technical note, I've discovered another of my local shops has dropped the Sunday Business Post from the titles they sell. That's not critical for me because a half dozen other shops carry the paper. However, in the greater scheme of things (i.e., paid copies sold), it has to hurt when your sales channel starts to shrivel. On top of that, I discovered I couldn't renew my quarterly subscription to the Business Post inside its iOS application. I mention my surprise in the You Tube video I shot today (below the break).
In my quest to create a kitchen more intelligent than those it serves, I spotted an intelligent oven from AEG in the Home section of the Sunday Times. "The CuliSense includes a database of recipes and sensors that detect the eright and volume of food placed inside. They calculate the cooking temperature and time for pink roast lamb or perfect custard tarts. All you need to do is select the Autocook function and food category, then put the food on the shelf indicated by the oven's computer." Unlike Pat Phelan, this personal chef does not tweet, however.
