Helpful Bosch manual snapped by @topgold.
WE BOUGHT A Bosch dishwasher because nobody I knew had a Bosch that failed before it turned 20. But ours refused to fill with water and that created a problem.
I followed the instructions in the manual to no avail. Then something good happened and I talked about it in my kitchen, saving the audio clip below.
Bosch dishwashers won't accept water if the filter is clogged so I opened the water supply line and checked. All was well.
Bosch dishwashers won't take water if the outflow is clogged. They're smart enough to ensure they don't flood your kitchen. The ribs in the outflow pipes sometimes gather clumps of old food and prevent the waste water from flowing normally. I scooped all the water out of our dishwasher and watched the outflow work normally. Doing that sloppy task didn't solve the problem.
The manual recommends clearing the dishwasher's memory. I did that, also shutting off all water pressure and all power. But that didn't solve the problem.
I called Bosch home repair services. The repairman arrived, watched me turn on the water and power. Then he reset the dishwasher's memory and it worked like a charm. This was a three minute repair job that cost me a cup of coffee and 10 litres of diesel fuel.
It turns out little Dylan knows how to open the dishwasher and he has figured out how to randomly press the dishwasher's buttons. This causes a malfunction in the dishwasher's electronic brain. We plan to solve this home-grown problem by teaching Dylan how to wash dishes by hand.
