Using Office Sway to Review Material

I AM WORKING with a group of digital media students to recap a semester of work and thought it would be good to see if they could help co-author a Sway. The main points originate from a syllabus in digital media and e-commerce. The research in the Digital Media Recap Sway emerged during a full year of study.

I'm trying to embed the Sway as an iframe and as a link ecause one of the main purposes of co-authoring is to highlight the power of online collaboration. There's more below the fold.

Teaching Too Many Contact Hours

I'M VERY HAPPY to be revitalised every day I'm in front of clever third level students in Ireland but I know I'm teaching too many contact hours. I'm less effective, my assessment schedule has to fold over into my weekends, and traveling 52 miles one way as part of my timetable is not ideal. Now hundreds of other third level lecturers agree and they've told the Irish government the hours have to return to where they were before fiscal austerity ripped through Ireland.

5252 Page Views High Water Mark

TEN YEARS AGO, on 13 April 2008 when talking about Qik, I hit 5252 page views on my personal blog. It's been all downhill from there.

I've started turning the analytics microscope onto my personal online spaces because I want to develop a refined statistical understanding of how blogging has morphed into microblogging. I think there are major societal impacts surrounding this evolution in our online conversations.

Flying over private property #drone

ALTHOUGH I DON'T WANT to be a test case for property owners who ask a judge to defend their rights to airspace above their property, I know I'm an easy target for such an action. Because in Ireland, some people believe they strongly in the ad coelum doctrine, granting property rights 'up to the heavens and down to hell'. [1]

Just Discovered Irish Turmeric

I buy turmeric powder in our local supermarkets because I wasn't aware I could find organic turmeric in Ireland. But now I have discovered I can get 100g or 1kg quantities from Organico and I feel good about that. [1]

Four Weeks Until Maker Meet in Thurles

ONE OF THE MOST PLEASANT memories I have of working in County Tipperary is of my daughter and son enjoying the 2016 Maker Meet on the campus of LIT-Thurles. They wish they could attend the 2018 version on Friday the 27th of April, but they're headed to a First Communion in another county and might not be able to change course.

WHILE WORKING WITH business students on one part of campus and creative media students on another location, I discovered several prominent #voicesineducation events connect the two groups of students. So I've started bringing real world business intelligence into tutorial sessions with both cohorts. 

As a bonus, a few students in our Management Information Systems module shared teasers from research they've started in specific case studies.
