I RECEIVED A five-star addition to my professional library in the form of Timeless Learning by Ira Socol, Pam Moran, and Chad Ratliff. It's an essential text for the advocacy of makerspaces in education.
I was privileged to meet Ira Socol and Pam Moran when they presented their ideas during the ICT in Education Conference in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland a few years ago. I watched them literally flip a conference centre into a Maker Space--much to the surprise of dozens of teachers attending the event.
Because of their involvement with several Irish classrooms during an academic year, Timeless Learning dedicates four pages to Ireland and to Coder Dojo.
I'm thinking about buying two more copies of the book and giving them to the two women who currently teach my children in primary school. The book is filled with case studies and practical examples that would show teachers at all levels of schooling what and how we should be doing to ensure all children succeed in their pathways of education.
