SEVEN YEARS AGO, I marveled at the YouTube tutorials Eugene O'Loughlin was churning out. I listened as he shared his experiences with a packed room during DIT's e-learning Summer School in 2013. Eugene often recorded his lectures beforehand and posted them on YouTube. After every lecture period at the National College of Ireland, Eugene would return to his office to often discover 100 more people had viewed his material online than had listened to him in the lecture hall.

Last week, Eugene O'Loughlin finished packing up Room 3.21 in the National College of Ireland. And today he retired from teaching.

Remembering Ronni Bennett #cancer

BACK IN 2017, Ronni Bennett was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I started reading her blog a few years before that on the recommendation of Dave Delaney. Ronni passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020. She was 79.

Remote Learning Failure Node #HigherEd

I HAVE LOGGED SEVEN MONTHS in a remote teaching mode and need to ensure I have more than one way of producing content because my laptop's AC power adapter has failed. It will take more than a week to get a replacement part from my main campus 50 km away so I'm in a scavenger mode as I try to sort out a solution.
