WHILE WAITING FOR an eir technician to rewire our fibre broadband connection, we connected our Samsung TV via ethernet cable to our Huawei B353 wireless modem. It works!
When using the wireless modem, wWe don't get services bundled via eir but we have all the smart apps served up by Samsung. That means uninterrupted service via Disney+, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and Apple TV+. Plus we can easily cast from one of our phones to the Samsung screen, using 4G connectivity via the Huawei B535.
Because eir cut our fibre broadband connectivity, we have discovered we can live as cord cutters. Once we connect our roof antenna to a DV tuner, we'll rediscover a free-to-air TV realm we left behind five years ago. I think I'll get an August DVB415.
We have several 256 GB USB sticks that will permit us to record TV directly from the DVB415. I could play the recordings back on my Samsung Note, using a USB-C to USB-A converter.
Like the eir box, the DVB415 lets me record shows from the programme guide. It also lets us pause and rewind live TV.
I'll leave an update on my blog as we continue to find new uses for our Huawei B535 and the August DVB415.
