WE LISTEN TO LOCAL RADIO because our TippFM covers topics we hear when talking with neighbours. We know local radio listenership reaches an older demographic and have started reading about ways a younger listenership might be attracted to local radio stations.

WE ARE SPECIFYING a suite of creative media production tools that will help university students produce broadcast quality content while on remote assignments. For the past six years, I have used an iPad Mini with cellular connectivity and a suite of production apps, a Zoom H6 field recorder, a Samsung Galaxy handset or an iPhone with several Android apps, Google Drive, Spreaker Studio, a battery pack, and assorted cables. It will cost €1105 to secure the iPad Mini and the Zoom H6 for student use.

Getting Pencils, Coffee, Brownies, and Books #waterford

WITH CHRISTMAS APPROACHING, we are planning several rail journeys into Waterford where we will browse The Book Centre. We need pencils for notes to Santa, coffee because that's what you have with brownies, and we want to get lost in the book shelves. I'm reminded of all these things after seeing Dermot Nolan return from a recent trip (see photo).

SINCE IRELAND APPEARS to be on the path of increasing incidences of COVID, I'm planning interventions that take students outside or following steps to open exterior doors even as the temperatures drop. The science supports my interventions.

Rate My Remote Learning #edchatie

EVEN THOUGH I can support students in their acclamation of the value of remote learning, the default position at my university is to learn inside our four walls (with the windows and doors wide open to fight COVID, of course). I surveyed students about what they found most useful while learning remotely for more than a year. I think many of their ideas will serve them well in their pursuit of lifelong learning.

Safe Travels During COVID on @irishrail. But.

I FEEL SAFEST aboard Irish trains, especially after a 90 minute journey on a crowded Buseireann bus. I wonder when we will feel safe dropping masks because I don't think COVID will ever be as simple as the common flu.

More Proof College Students Learn Before Dawn

THANKS TO HELPFUL analytics, I learn how students use the Sharepoint Sites that connect our university academic modules to Microsoft Teams and Moodle.

Big Reveal: Students use our electronic assets before sunrise to rewind academic materials. The screenshot shows (1) students are accessing Sharepoint assets between 2AM and 4AM and (2) there is an upward trend in people using Sharepoint's links to find lecture notes, audio clips, video files, and assessment materials.
