GOETHE -- Last month, I pulled words from Goethe after reading a piece written by Josephine Gräfin Plettenberg. Today a paragraph from GE's Jeff Immelt¹ prods me to write the words again, while trying to memorise them.

I could have guessed that Jeff Immelt reads voraciously. He sounds like a well-read man. He told Spencer Reiss, "Twenty percent of what I read are business books. I read all the journals. I read biographies, novels. But leadership is a learning-by-doing thing. There's no one I admire or love than Jack Welch, but I've watched so many people try to copy him. It doesn't happen.
