A BIG CHUNK of the Sunday Business Post today deals with online social networking alongside columns from traditional opinions that demean blogging. It's the first time the two perspectives appear in thousands of words inside a quality Sunday newspaper. Although other titles have offered space on the same page for pro and con viewpoints concerning traditional media and nontraditional networks, today's coverage in the Sunday Business Post features writers who probably did not know about related viewpoints in today's paper. In my mind, those blind opinions appear to be more straightforward since they're offered up on their own without any need to refute a writer on the same page. As things unfold, several of the perspectives opposed to blogging and social networking are remnants of an older generation. The world of communications has evolved, even though the attitudes of some traditionalists have remained mired in an hierarchical communications model. Although I won't keep today's SBP, back in the 90s, I would have saved today's Computers in Business for several more readings. I have made a five-minute video that scratches the surface.
