INSPIRED BY THE SODSHOW, we've dropped seeds in pots standing on the kitchen windowsills and now we have a replanting job ahead.
Several times a day, we talk to our vegetable plants, asking them whether they've enough water or sun. We're empowered by Peter Donegan's rambling view of gardening in Ireland. And we're helped by the warm rays of sunshine hitting the kitchen extension for 12 hours every day. We're blessed with nearly 100 per cent germination from seeds. Young Mia recounts her experience in the audio and video clips below.
As the summer continues, we're encouraging Mia to keep an online photo journal of her gardening. She's a "photos by Mia" set on Flickr, one we're extending with captions that she often suggests. The lightweight Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc hangs around her neck, ready for photography assignments in between sessions of "Where's My Water" on the phone.
I wish Mia's attention span was long enough to absorb an entire segment of the Sodshow because it's also on the Xperia Arc, downloading via Phonecasts, an excellent podcatcher.
The Sodshow is Dublin’s Only Garden Radio Show. It's on Dublin City FM with Peter Donegan & Brian Greene every Friday at 3pm.
Bernie Goldbach is trying to curate links about gardening.
