MY LIFE IN IRELAND started before any Irish Internet Service Provider's and this weekend I get to huddle with several Irish voices from that Web 1.0 era.
It is remarkable when you consider how we discovered one another during an era preceding Google or any app-enabled social network. I remember bumping into some of the people on CompuServe forums, others on Galway bulletin boards and many of the loudest on the Webmaster Shoptalk List.
I expect several #congregation13 huddles involving Brian Greene won't know his Irish web legacy and maybe he wants to keep his long years of coding in the shadows. But because of his hand-wrought code, often typed manually line-by-line, the Irish Internet talking community evolved. Hopefully, we will capture some of that first generation talking community in Cong, County Mayo, during http://www.congregation.ie using handheld tech that you could not find with online search engines in the mid-90s.
