ONE OF THE FASTEST-growing segments of video production involves Google Hangouts, a consistent feature of the Clonmel campus of the Limerick School of Art & Design.
We teach high-end video production techniques at LSAD-CLonmel and our creative multimedia degree students enjoy hands-on use with HD video equipment as they create broadcast-ready clips as portfolio objects. But as both technology and user expectations have shifted, we also explore the LoFi realm of video production by gaining expertise with Google Hangouts. In the realm of small business, Hangouts on Air have started delivering channel content to customers while expanding the reach of businesses.
Throughout my remaining time as a creative multimedia lecturer, I plan to extend our reach to a global audience by integrating more Google Hangouts on Air into the curriculum. Some will appear as Google Plus Events, others will pop up on LinkedIn as announcements on the campus page of the Limerick Institute of Technology. And along the way, I'll keep listening to experts like Dan York suggest the best ways to leverage this new technology.
