Using my phone to flip slides #edchatie

I REMEMBERED that my phone could wirelessly connect to an overhead data projector and that saved me an hour of a lecture. I used Lumia Beamer to project a slide deck that was in my phone.

I first saw Lumia Beamer during an Irish Learning Technology event when a presenter effortlessly showed his presentation while holding his Lumia 1020 as he strode confidently across the stage. At that moment, I resolved to keep my lecture notes in-hand on my Lumia 1520.

I normally post my lectures onto Moodle after students co-author them by using Powerpoint Online. Both Moodle and Powerpoint Online use cloud services. But a big network failure--affecting Bank of Ireland at the same time--made OneDrive's startup logo spill aimlessly instead of loading my slide deck. But since I had a current version of the Powerpoint on my phone, I simply fired up Lumia Beamer, set a Nokia Short Code in the data projector's web browser, and swiped through slides.

This is a kind of educational technology everyone should know how to use.
